I decided to recreate everything I see from my window. At first it looked like a very ambitious project but once I started to plan on ways to optimize the process of populating the city, everything became more simple.
So the way the scene was arrange was by creating the main hero buildings we see in the foreground, somewhere around 12 buildings. The rest of them were grabbed from the Kitbash3d rooftops and Neo Tokio. For the city layout, I used blender to get the basic geo from a 3d map database (open street map).
All the small buildings were done using the layout geo and some procedural shaders I did inside Max. Finally the lighting is really straight forward: HDRI + Vray Sun!
